Australasia
The countries of Australia and New Zealand seem very far away places but they, and the neighbouring countries around the western side of the Pacfic Ocean have a huge number of interesting places to visit and explore.
My first trip to Australasia was in 1994 and consisted of a 'top to bottom' tour of New Zealand - North and South Island, from Aukland to Wellington with stops along the way.
My second trip to Asia was in 2004 when I went to the magical island of Borneo - specifically the less-wild northern states of Sabah and Sarawak, which are part of Malaysia. This trip also included an ascent - though there are other words to describe it - of the wildlife heritage area of the Mount Kinabalu National Park, to the very top at Lowe's Peak - a body shredding trip through lush rain forest to an altitude of about 14,400 feet [or 4340m if you prefer].
Other trips followed which included:

Other trips followed which included:
- 2008 - Beijing, Xian - Terracotta Army - and North West China -for the Total Solar Eclipse on 1st August 2008
- 2009 - India - Delhi, Agra, Jaipur, Ranthambore - inclding a visit to a group of fellow amateur astronomers who work for the same Company as I currently do.
- 2015 - Australia mini-Grand Tour - including Melbourne, Alice Springs, Uluru, Great Barrier Reef and Sydney
- 2019 - back to New Zealand South Island - for a mini-Grand Tour which started from Christchurch and onto Lake te Anau. Unfortunately it was rather cut short by a broken ankle suffered on the trip from Lake Manipouri to Doubtful Sound. Anyway I got back safe and I've placed a few images from that trip into the photo akbum for which there is a link below.
Above are a few highlights of my trips to Australasia. If you wish to take a more in-depth look then please take a browse of some of my on-line image and picture albums, from the links below:
