Norway
The Scandinavian country of Norway has much to offer the intrepid traveller.
Whether you go in Spring, Summer, Autumn or Winter you can find something to do and places to visit.
My visit was in the Summer of 1989, visiting Bergen, Voss and Aurland; so I got to see some of the natural wonders of Norway when the weather is mild and quite confortable.
Visitors venturing to Norway in the colder months will need to take suitable protective outdoor clothing but they can enjoy many winter sports in truely stunning scenic locations

Voss Lake - and memorial

Aurland village and harbour

Flåm waterfall
Bergen is a small town on the shores of the Hardangerfyord.
It is quite a busy town with many tourists and the locals going about their business
The houses are a mixture of highly colourfull buildings built over the past 100+ years.
The views from the town across the harbour and out to sea can be quite stunning on a clear day and the town also has a backdrop of the hills that surround it
Bergen

Voss is a small village on the shores of the Sognefyord.

It can trace back its roots to Viking times and one of its claims to fame is that it has a number of quite famous athletes amongst is former imhabitants.
It is a town that offers something for the traveller whether they go in Winter for the skiing or in Summer for the walking and wonderful views across the lake, valleys and mountains in this area.

This is a picture taken across the Voss Lake and shows a memorial, in the centre of the image, commemorating a ferry accident some years ago, when a number of people were drowned in the lake.

Flam is a small village that is situated almost mid-way along a scenic fernicular railway.
As you travel along the railway - one of Norways premier tourist attractions -  the line is mostly enclosed within the hillside, apart from small sections.
One of these opening you come out from compete darkness into a bowl shaped ampitheatre of the Flåm falls, which are quite breakthtaking - even in summer, when this image was taken
Aurland, at the head of its Fjord, is a small fishing village, nestled in the surrounding hills.

It has stuning views all around and, because of the closeness of the high hills, around the village, is has something of a microclimate.

It sits near the end of the Flambsbana Railway - a UNESCO World herritage site
