There is only really one place to visit in Agra - the Taj Mahal .
Best time of year to see it - during the Full Moon
Best time of day to see it - early morning - cooler and also not quite so busy
Stunning buildings made from white Marble with inlays of semi-precious stones.

Ranthambore - land of the Tigers.
With the decline of the native Tiger population, of India - caused due to 'trophy hunting' and the black market for tiger products for traditional medicine, Ranthambore was set up as a natural haven for these wonderful creatures.
There were strict limits on what development of Hotels etc., could take place in the Park and the annual number of visitors is limited to ensure that the Park remains a secure location for Tigers to live and breed.
To see a Tiger is a special experience - not everyone who enters the Park will see one - it may take many visits.
But there are other wildlife, such as a plethora of Birds, a number of species of Deer and Antelope and a whole lot more besides to find.

Jaipur - Jantar Mantar
Each of the 'instruments' displayed in the images on this page, performs a specific function.
Over the past 1000+ years, because of the nature of the battles between clans who ruled Jaipur and the surrounding area, it was necessary for the inhabitants and rulers of Jaipur city, to know exactly the day of the year, the date and the time of day.
Hence a range of instruments were constructed, from white Marble and red Sandstone, to fulfill this need.
On this page you will find a selection of these instruments along with a brief description of what they are designed to do.

In late September 2008 I submitted an article, about visiting China to see the 2008 Total Solar Eclipse,  for publication into the Company Magazine, Elixir, of my employer.
No sooner had the article been published that I received an invitation to go to Hyderabad, from a group of employees, who were interested in the science of Astronomy.
So, I looked around for a holiday vaction to give me a flavour of  India, and I found one that would allow me also to visit Hyderabad to attend the Astronomy meeting
The rest, as they say, is history
On this page you will find images of that trip as well as  other pages of information about the Tour Company I went with and the places we visitied along the way.
Enjoy!
