In 1990 I ventured to the land of 'Lunar Landscapes' - the island of Iceland.
Iceland was formed by volcanic activity long ago in the Atlantic Ocean, at the point where the mid-ocean ridge is breaking apart. As such its a place of active volcanoes, geysirs and other geothermal activity such as boiling pool of mud. Because of its location it is also a haven for wildelife and the sculpting of its landcapes by the forces of the Earth's interior, has resulted in some truely amazing natural features such as huge waterfalls, warm-water lakes and providing Iceland with a great deal of geothermal power for its people. Sorry but I don't have any presentable images of Iceland.
Use the Iceland Links to find images of the many interesting locations of this volcanic Isle
Latest update - I'm off back to Iceland in 2013 for a spot of Aurora watching [hopefully].
