For 2008, I decided to make a big effort to get my 'best' image of a Total Solar Eclipse'.
To do this I searched for a trip that would take me to a location with the best chance of seeing the eclipse, on the 1st of August 2008.
This turned out to be CHINA and I chose to go with the company of 'Ancient World Tours'.
The trip I eventually settled upon was:
a) Fly to Beijing - just a few days before the 2008 Olympics
b) Travel to the Eclipse site, near Urum Chi, by coach
c) Travel onto to the city of Dunhuang - on the edge of the Taklimakan Desert
d) Fly from Dun Huang to Xian - to see the world-famous Terracotta Army

e) Fly to Beijing and finally home
